There's a new muscle truck coming ... the Silverado SS
Inspired by Chevy's classic SS muscle cars, the Silverado SS reflects the Super Sport tradition of past Camaro's and Monte Carlos.
The 2003 Silverado SS is based on the 1500 extended cab short bed. It delivers a new dimension of fun and excitement to Silverado's proven strengths and capabilities.
Standard high output LQ9 version of the Vortec 6000 V8. 345 hp/380 torque. Mated to a 4L65E four speed automatic overdrive transmission. A 3.06 first gear and 0.70 final gear ratio contribute to the truck's impressive performance.
 The exhaust system's single, 3.5-in. outlet pipe has been specially tuned for a throaty, NASCAR-inspired roar.
A standard full-time, All-Wheel-Drive, viscous-couple transfer case uses the traction of four driving wheels to provide exceptional on-road handling...on wet or dry pavement.
Managing the ride is the Z60 SS High Performance Chassis Package.
Although the independent torsion bar front and multi-spring rear setup is similar, the SS suspension has been completely retimed for maximum ride and handling.
The ride height is lowered 2 inches and the track is 18mm wider for added handling,
The shocks have been specially tuned for ride smoothness
Meeting the road are the SS' massive 20-inch P275/55R Goodyear Eagle radiate that are mounted on 18.5" wide rims
SS shares upgraded brake system with other 2003 trucks. Segment-exclusive standard features include a 4.10:1 final drive axle ratio and a Z82 HD trailering package with 10,500 pound towing capacity.
Appearance-wise, the SS delivers a clean, aggressive look, starting with its monochromatic color-scheme that includes the grille, fascias and cladding.
A wide-center band air scoop integrates with the grille, while SS badges accent the front doors.
The full front and rear bumper fascias wrap completely around the body and extend from the belt line down almost to the level of the frame rails and are augmented by the sporty five-spoke polished aluminum wheels.
Just like any Super Sport, the back is capped off by a rear spoiler. 
Inside, the dark pewter custom interior includes leather bucket seats with embroidered headrests.
Distinctive white backlighting to the IP gives it a performance-oriented look.
And while the vehicle is also loaded with luxury options, it's the power, ride and handling that define it as a Super Sport.
Silverado SS is available in a choice of three exterior colors; Onyx Black, Arrival Blue and Victory Red.
